Dear participant,

We invite you to listen to the fourth topic of the course – Data journalism in the world. In the video presentation, you will be introduced to the different challenges open data journalists are facing worldwide. You will be also given three examples of different countries to compare and analyse the situation of open data and data journalism in three different parts of the world. The video presentation will be followed by two YouTube videos:  How the BBC personalises data stories – Data Journalism and What is data journalism at The Guardian?

We invite you to listen to the fifth topic of the course – What kind of skills and why do data journalists need? The video presentation will represent the key areas of expertise that open data journalists should manage to work in this complex field. It will also explain why having a diverse variety of skills is important for data journalists.

Have you already used coding to assess and analyse data? In order to succeed you need to build these skills or collaborate with developers. Teamwork is always very helpful.
