Dear participant,

You are invited the third topic of the course – Turning data into a story. Let’s examine a case story – one of the best data journalism stories so far – “Hurricane Maria’s Dead”.

Explore the techniques of how to turn data into a story. Think of the most common ways of data visualization.

Data gathering skills always help to make an interesting and credible story from data.

In order to explore best practices you are invited to watch the video interview with Charles Novaes de Santana – a data journalist at Dadoscope in Brazil and a data scientist at Socibe in Spain. In the interview, Charles Novaes de Santana will talk about how his day as a data journalist looks like, challenges on the way and the most rewarding moments.

What skills do you think are the most useful to create great data stories? Check your knowledge in the quiz.
